Come explore the world of quilts created to mark milestones, and see why these quilts are a fun and meaningful solution to joyful sewing in this busy world. In this workshop, Kitty will share her journey through the world of creating milestone quilts, beginning with the quilt she created for her third child to mark his first year of life, and will explore other life events that can be documented through the creation of a quilt. Because each person's plan for their Quilt Your Life project will be as unique as the person themselves, there's not really a standard workshop project photo. I've included a few examples of filled out planning pages and example projects as a peek at what folks might have planned by the end of the workshop. Supply List |

Workshop May 14 & 21
Transparency quilts are a favorite design technique, and I talk about what inspires me to design using the technique and how to approach fabric selection when you are working with or wanting to make a transparency quilt. The talk includes tips and tricks on how to use common technology to your benefit when shopping online or in person. Even if you aren't planning to make a transparency quilt, the fabric selection tips & tricks are geared to make you more confident in your next fabric pull! Website - Quilting JetGirl |
Learn how to evaluate fabric choices for transparency overlay and about how the visual relationship between different colors, print sizes, and tones can be balanced in your quilts by working through the Wayward Transparency pattern. Wayward Transparency requires 2-3 fabrics in gradation. Traditional piecing techniques will be explored, with additional insights into precision piecing and how to work with directional fabrics. The workshop will be divided into two Saturdays, one week apart, to allow for participants to work on their quilts during the week: Yvonne's quilts have won awards at QuiltCon, PIQF, and elsewhere. You can see more about her online at quiltingjetgirl.com or on Instagram, where she is @quiltingjetgirl.

Workshop
This lecture focuses on my path to becoming a modern quilter and how I've applied many traditional techniques in my modern quilts. I'll discuss the progression of my work and show my Radial Quilts, Watercolor Quilts, and a few others too! I'll share information on design inspiration, favorite artists, and discuss some quilting highs and lows along my journey. I look forward to sharing my quilts and stories with you! While I will take questions throughout the lecture, I'll save 15-20 minutes at the end specifically for any guild questions.
Mobius Radial is a wall hanging made using paper piecing, curved piecing, and partial seam techniques. This workshop covers the basic concepts of paper piecing on an arc, curved piecing, and precision piecing. We will also discuss quilting ideas. Students will learn the concepts of paper piecing on a curve. There will be a focus on curved piecing and partial seam construction. The students will complete a portion of the quilt during class. The Mobius Radial Quilt finishes at 30 x 30 inches.
Skill level: Intermediate
Workshop attendees: Each student must purchase the pattern via Audrey's website, www.cottonandbourbon.com. Digital download is $12, paper pattern via mail is $16

David will tell us how he combines computer-printed custom labels with a woven logo label to give them a professional finish, and to record important details for posterity or for the recipient. He believes that quilts are a wonderful art form, and that your work should be signed. If you are looking for a new way to make that label for your special quilt, please join us to hear his presentation. | |
